Brazil At 6.5 cm (2½"), this is the smallest flycatcher and one of the smallest birds in the world. As its name suggests, it has hardly any tail. It has a grey head, a white stripe in front of the eye and a white eyering. |

Underparts are described as "white, tinged pale yellow on crissum" (Ridgely & Tudor) or "white; sides tinged grayish; under tail coverts yellow" (Hilty & Brown). However, the first and second photos show that the breast and flanks can be yellow or tinged yellow. It is found at low and middle heights on forest borders and secondary woodland in tropical South America |
